Firebug vs Safari Web Inspector
It would be nice if Apple would release an update for Safari that addresses the issue of the broken Web Inspector, that they broke. It used to be, if you had developer tools enabled in Safari, when you right click on something and then click “Inspect Element”, Safari would do basically the same thing that Firebug for Firefox does. It brings up a little inspector at the bottom of the page for you to view [...]

Sharing Yourself With The World
Where do you draw the line? The line that separates what you will share with people online, and what you keep private? And, I don’t mean identification data like your name, address, phone number, etc. That is information that some people put out there just to project themselves as being open. I mean, things that are actually personal to you. Like…I don’t want to hear about how you felt while you were in bed with your [...]

Google+ vs Facebook: Competition is a Good Thing
I think I would urge people to keep their Facebook account. Lately, I’m seeing a lot of people say that they’d like to just delete their Facebook accounts and stick with nothing but Google+. What they’re forgetting, is that competition is a good thing. I’ve even seen at least one person say they were doing away with their blog due to the posting capabilities of Google Plus. Anybody notice that Facebook didn’t even have video [...]

Premium WordPress Themes
When setting up a wordpress blog for a client, do you spend extra money on a premium wordpress theme, which is essentially going to cost them more money, do you set it up with a free wordpress theme, or do you build your own theme, catering to the needs of the client? Do you take screenshots of what their wordpress blog will look like when it is finally set up and then email them asking [...]

Safari Bookmarks
Apparently, I don’t even use them anymore. I posted a link on Google+ a while back just so that I could have a reference for the page later on. Then, a while after that, I thought, “Why didn’t I just add a bookmark in Safari?” Then, I remembered. I hate bookmarks in Safari. I can hardly believe that after five updated versions of Apple’s web browser, they haven’t added a “New Folder” button when I [...]

Google Chrome Extension: Readability
About three days ago, I vowed to myself that I would use a browser other than Safari, exclusively, for at least a week. About three days in, I started really missing my Reader feature in Safari that makes all the font bigger, allows me to read and print without all the sidebar noise, and is extremely easy to use and navigate. I’ve written about Reader before. The other day, I ran a Google search to [...]

Website Accessibility Notes
I think that if you’re going to make a list of links for something like “Top 5…whatever” and have people read a blog post containing these links, then they ought to open up in a new tab, not the same tab. If they open in the same tab, then I either have to click the back button to go back to your post after clicking a link so that I can see the rest of [...]

To Blog, or to…Blog More
I’ve got to stop thinking about my audience, if I even have one. I can’t concentrate when I do that. I can’t even write a post when I think about what somebody else might think when they read it. It takes me forever just to get out a sentence. And no, I’m not complaining. I just know that I have to have a different strategy than a lot of other people. It doesn’t work for [...]

Multiple User Issues
I wonder why, at first, I wasn’t able to run MAMP on multiple user accounts on my Mac. I think it had something to do with the number of databases allowed or something like that. Maybe it just had to do with not having the right files in the right directories in the right user account when you go to create content, or connect wordpress to a database. Or maybe it had to do with [...]

Front Page
What is the deal with Joomla and this thing called “Front Page”? What does that mean? Does it mean that if I check that box while I’m posting that it will show up on the front page of my website along with the last blog post I did? Or does it mean that the post that goes on your front page is the “featured” post and that there can be only one? I don’t know. [...]
